Ultimately the Mycologist puts the goggles back on the top of his head and returns a sense of normalcy to his face by polishing his pince-nez. Given that the cleaning handkerchief was in the pocket of his lab coat, the results of this action are debatable. The glass is not greasy at least.
He packs up his belongings back into the lab coat's pockets and heads out with several friendly nods of farewell to his classmates and the lecturing Emissary as well. He leaves with a smile on his face, but the speed with which he makes himself scarce suggests either an extremely busy schedule or a lack of desire to show up next week. Or, to avoid falling prey to a false dichotomy, both.
