With exaggerated motions, The Pupil placed the back of their hand to their forehead and leaned away dramatically. "Alas, time marches on and so does this stalwart class." Correcting their posture, they continued; "So, what has The lovely Maven been up to this week?"
There was one answer that would only make their skin crawl, something they HOPED they wouldn't say after kicking about where they shouldn't have been -- Oh Maven, darling Maven, please don't say you were hanging around that accursed orphanage again -- SURELY, surely not.
